Post Election & Potential Impact On The Film Industry

So, I’ve sat down over the last couple of weeks and watched the pending presidential inauguration along with the pomp and circumstance and now the actual inauguration and I’m intrigued by the economic impact the new administration may have on the US economy.

On January 20, 2025, Donald Trump was inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States, marking a significant shift in the political landscape. This change is poised to influence various industries, including the production of specialty trailers for Hollywood studios and the broader film sector.

In a move to rejuvenate the American film industry, President Trump appointed actors Sylvester Stallone, Jon Voight, and Mel Gibson as special ambassadors to Hollywood. The last 3 people who collaborated in Hollywood were Martin Short, Steve Martin and Chevy Chase, known for their movie, “The Three Amigos.” Where these guys were in Hollywood to entertain, the new trio has a mandate to revitalize Hollywood, which the administration believes has suffered in recent years. This initiative suggests a potential increase in film production activities, potentially boosting demand for specialty trailers used on sets.

It will be curious how any trade tariffs imposed on foreign countries will have on film production equipment and complementary equipment such as star trailers or other specialty trailers. Historically, such tariffs have led to increased production costs due to higher material prices. For instance, during previous tariff implementations, trailer manufacturers expressed concerns about the lack of domestic supply for specialty materials and the financial strain caused by elevated costs. There has been a slow rebound, and the future is looking promising.

We at Workforce By RBD, see an exciting 2025, being ushered in with President Trump’s commitment to bring back “The Golden Age.” It reminds me of President Ronald Reagan’s vision of the “shining light up on the hill” (paraphrased). There certainly is optimism in the air and American’s are eager to be the world leader in many categories, including film making. So let us raise a glass to America’s “can do” attitude and to Hollywood’s new “Three Amigos” as they work to bring film industry back to life, back to Hollywood, back to America.
